Reception upon arrival from Melbourne Airport

Monash University offers free airport pick-up service from the Melbourne Internationl Airport to all students new to Melbourne. The complimentary service can be organised via the Monash University website:

We will be at BSA to welcome you and show you around BSA as soon as you arrive.  Please remember to inform us of your arrival details at least one week in advance.

Meals

We understand how tired you can get traveling the long distance, especially if you haven’t had a comfortable flight or slept a wink. There’s nothing more stressful than having to worry about your meals upon arrival in an unfamiliar environment. Breakfast, lunch and dinner (depending on your arrival time) will be provided on your arrival day in Melbourne so that you can rest up and concentrate on settling in and familiarizing yourself with your new environment.

This service is only available to students new to Melbourne.

Basics shopping

Parents can have peace of mind that their son or daughter is not in a situation of having to drop everything upon arrival to rush around shopping for all he or she needs for the first night. If you are new to Melbourne, we can assist you with shopping for your basic needs.

Bed linen:  For hygiene reasons, we recommend that you purchase your own pillow, doona (also known as quilt or comforter), and bed linen.  We advise that you not bring your pillow or bed linen from home, as this adds too much to your allowable airlines luggage weight limit and space. We can purchase on your behalf all that you need.

Food:  We can shop on your behalf, for all the staples to see you through your first week here.  If you prefer to do your own shopping, we are happy to point you in the direction of the numerous supermarkets within a 10 to 15 minute walking distance from BSA. We encourage you to explore your new neighbourhood.

Visiting parents

A parent accompanying or visiting his or her son or daughter is welcome to share the room.  A roll-away bed will be provided.  Only one parent is able to share the room to a limit of two weeks. Stays longer than the two weeks may be considered. A nominal fee is involved.

We recommend a motel or hotel if both parents are visiting.  We can arrange suitable accommodation on your behalf. There is limited choice of accommodation within 25 minutes walking or five minutes driving distance to BSA. Accommodation can also be arranged closer to or in Melbourne City.

Safe Box

Ever worry about how to secure your very important documents or belongings such as your passport, birth certificate, transcripts, jewellery or even laptop?  One of the special optional features that BSA offers is an installed safe in your room.
